PHISHING SCAM - A NEW TYPE OF SCAM ON UNISWAP

A new type of scam has been found, even so it costs +800 victims and assets lost over $1.8 million. The number of victims is going up every single second, hence, please be careful and share this information to protect blockchain assets.

How does the scam work? What happened to all the victims?

This scam process works like a phishing scam, in which a hacker will fake the information of a reputable project/business in order to defraud users.

In this case, this phishing site requests that users approve tokens for the "Uniswap Protocol: Permit2" contract, which appears to be harmless. However, the following step is a signature request to transfer tokens to the scammer, resulting in the loss of all approved assets. Avoid clicking on strange links from random emails and instant messages

Before clicking on any link, users should make sure to hover over the link to see if the destination is correct. Instead of clicking on the link in the original message, users can visit the site directly by typing in the search engine.

Prepare a new wallet every time user plan to join an uncertain project

When a user is trading, a project (scammer) will ask for access permission through a link. It is safe if the user decides not to allow, however, when the user allows the project's permission, the scammer will steal the user's assets as well as information. Having a new wallet can only reduce the user's loss because the user lost what they already had in this new wallet, not all the wallet. Therefore, beware and read all about the project information before doing anything.
